I received the following email from Center For Inquiry
===========
Greetings,

We're pleased to announce the fourth year of Camp Inquiry, CFI's summer program for children ages seven to sixteen. This year, Camp Inquiry will take place from July 6 through the 12 at Camp Seven Hills in Holland, New York. Camp Seven Hills has 620 acres of woodland paths, meadows, streams, and hills; the perfect setting for an unforgettable camping experience. Camp Inquiry will be run by a staff of fully screened and trained counselors, teachers, and a trained medical professional.

Camp Inquiry 2009: 'The Wonders of Science'

Scientific exploration has led to the discovery and understanding of once unimaginable frontiers of the human experience. What once could only be explained as magic has been proven with reason, recreated through experimentation, and taught to new generations. Camp Inquiry 2009's theme is, for good reason, titled "The Wonders of Science." Through hands-on experimentation, group analysis, rich discussion, and self reflection, we teach not only to understand the true nature of the world around us, but to look with a skeptical eye and dicern the diffrences between science and pseudoscience.

This is a place where kids can be themselves. We will work toward helping youth confront the challenges of living a nontheistic lifestyle in a world dominated by religious belief and pseudoscience. Grounded on the conviction that kids can begin establishing habits of the good and ethical life early on, Camp Inquiry adopts a three-part focus: the arts and sciences, the skeptical perspective, and ethical character development. Campers, counselors, and teachers will address key issues around individual identity while forging trusting relationships, establishing a sense of local and global community, and developing a respect for the natural world.

About the Camp Inquiry Director:

Dr. Angie McQuaig has been an educator since 1989, with teaching and coaching experience ranging from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade in Florida, Georgia, Washington, D.C., Japan, and England. Dr. McQuaig has also served as a university professor, professional development presenter, curriculum designer, and school administrator at the elementary and secondary levels. She writes and speaks on character education, cooperative learning, humanism, and skepticism. Her PhD is in educational leadership. You can reach her at AMcQuaig [at] centerforinquiry.net.
