Hello, All,
The Iowa Secularists are just getting started and we need your membership and ideas.  We seek to create a community of non-religious people who choose to live ethically.  To improve the image and public understanding of living a life without religion we need a mechanism by which we can make positive contributions to our communities.  We also need to be politically active to make sure that the separation of church and state remains strong.  With your help we can do it!
Here's how you can get involved.  Join the Iowa Secularists by clicking here. Then, start sharing your ideas on the forum.  As our organization grows we will plan activities, share articles on the Iowa Secularist webpage and alert our members to opportunities to advance our ideas.
We look forward to having you as a member of our community!

Hi!  I really hope this becomes successful!  The website is very nicely laid-out.
Mary

Edited:  I might suggest plugging the site at the atheist forums at about.com, in fact, I'll try to get around to posting a link there myself.

Great idea, Mary.  Thanks for the compliment on the site and the suggestion to post on about.com.  I'll take a look at it and if you don't beat me to it, I'll spread the word.
We're planning a meeting within the next couple of weeks.  I'll keep you posted!

I have a few suggestions:

You should create a link to the humorous website www.landoverbaptist.org

It is a fictional church operated out the fictional town of Freehold, Iowa.  It pokes fun at all things Christian - very funny.  Then again, if you are trying to win "converts" with your site, then the landover page will certainly offend some Christians.

Also, www.atheists.org (American Atheists) has links to free-thinking sites all over the u.s.  Perhaps you could get linked to them... there is no current link for Iowa.

I'm glad I discovered your web-page!

I'm very that I found your webpage, and I'm impressed that you have a forum set up along with a chat set up inside the browser.  I really hope to get involved with this organization and website as much as I can ( I'm a college student right now so unfortunately I don't have a lot of money or time Sad )
